Nikita Zomer Obituary
Born in Wilkes-Barre on Oct. 11, 1995, he was a son of Fred and Diana Zomer. He was a member of the Parker Hill Church in Wilkes-Barre.
He was an honor roll student at Luzerne County Community College, pursuing a degree in computer programming. He was a 2014 graduate of GAR Memorial High School and attended Bear Creek Charter School.
He was currently employed by Berkshire Hathaway GUARD Insurance Companies as a software developer. He was very proud of his hire after winning a coveted internship there after his spring semester.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Nina Salmanli, and by his paternal grandparents, Stanley and Eleanor Zomer.
He is survived by his loving parents, and by his brother, Alexander, 14, at home; his maternal grandfather and maternal stepgrandfather, an uncle and many aunts. Nikita is also survived by his godmother, Carol Smith and her husband, Michael, and by his godfather, Michael Smith Jr.
Niki lived a life full of passion. Whether he was riding his quad or going for a boat ride at his family lake home, he did everything with intensity. He was truly unique in spirit and had a dashing smile. Niki carried himself with pride and a regal sense of character. He found satisfaction in dressing sharp and had a fervor for silk paisley ties.
Niki was fortunate to grow up in a multi-cultural home and found honor in his Russian heritage. At a young age he traveled the world and was lucky enough to experience some of the world's most magnificent countries and cities throughout Eastern Europe, including Turkey and his mother's hometown of Baka. He also delighted in seeing other parts of the world and spent many exquisite vacations in the Dominican Republic.
By the time Nikita could speak he had the maturity of a sage. His manners were sophisticated and his demeanor cultivated. Niki's independent nature led him to be absolute in his self-reliance from a young age. He had a genteel personality that was refined and courteous. He had a strong mind and a brave heart. He had captivating eyes and a magnetizing smile. Nikita was a unique soul and surely there will be no other like him.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday from Nat & Gawlas Funeral Home, 89 Park Ave., Wilkes-Barre. Pastor Steve Brown will officiate. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.

It’s been years, but Nikita still crosses my mind every year around summer time.
All these years, and all the life that came with it I’m sorry, dude.
I’ll never be able to make things right, but I’ve tried to take those experiences as lessons and be a better person.
I hope that less young men will have to feel the way Nikita felt, there’s a lot of life to live out there.

Nikita's family, I'm truly sorry for the loss. I only met Nikita once on campus when he overheard me and a few friends speaking Russian and stopped us to introduce himself. He has been often on my mind the past few weeks. I pray for God's blessings and comfort on the family of Nikita and close ones. From the neighboring Russian/Ukranian Baptist church.

My dearest friends, Fred, Diana, and Alex, my heart is broken at the loss of your beloved son and brother, Nick. This is not the natural order in which these things are supposed to happen. Our prayers and thoughts are with you daily. God always has a plan, sometimes we never can understand the reasons why such things happen like this. But I do know that, now, at this very moment, Nick is resting comfortably in Our Lord s loving arms. He has no more pain,only great relief from whatever it was that troubled him.
