Donald Phillips Obituary
Brandon
Donald E. Phillips, 84, passed into the next life on the 2nd of February 2017 at his home in Brandon.
Visitation is 5:00-7:00 Monday, February 6, 2017 at First Baptist Church of Jackson, with a visitation one hour before the service on Tuesday at 1:00 pm at First Baptist Church of Jackson, where he was a member and Deacon.
Donald was a native of Grenada County and a longtime resident of Rankin County. He was a graduate of Gore Springs High School, Holmes Community College, and earned a B.S. Degree from Mississippi College, and an MBA from The University of Mississippi. In 1984, he was awarded an honorary Doctor of Laws Degree from Mississippi College.
His career included coaching at Benton High School and at Holmes Community College. He then entered the business world and retired in 1988 as President and CEO of Pitman-Moore Animal Health Care Products, Northbrook, Illinois.
Following retirement, he served as chairman of the board for Synbiotics, Inc., San Diego, California and for Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan, Canada.
He is survived by his wife, Sue, daughter, Donna Keeling (Mike) of Brandon, four grandchildren: Don Keeling (Lisa) of Madison, Amanda Keeling Minshew (Rylan) of Brandon, Phillip Barnett of Atlanta, GA, Kelly Barnett of Chicago, Illinois, and three great-grandchildren: Owen and Lillian Keeling and Olivia Minshew.
He is preceded in death by his daughter, Debra Barnett of Wilmette, Illinois.

It has been my honor and privilege to know and work with Dr. Phillips over the last 25 years through our common love and support of Holmes Community College. What a gentleman and mentor - a perfect example of humilty, altruism and servant leadership, and a special friend that I shall always remember fondly and with thanksgiving! To Sue, and all the family, Liz and I will be thinking and praying for you all during this time of sorrow, knowing that our loss is Heaven's gain. May God shower His blessings and comfort upon your family.
