Mr. Norwood was an inspiration to me at Murrah (and also Bailey, if I remember correctly) and so encouraged me I graduated with a BFA from Newcomb in 1962. I fondly remember a bus trip that the art students took to the Delgado Museum in New Orleans. Great teacher and great man. Tippy Reimers Lyell

I attended Jackson Murrah its first two years and Mr. Norwood was one of three men teaching the arts. Along with Leland Byler,Coral Music, and John (Jack)Jones, band he contributed greatly to the lives of all of us lucky to have enjoyed a kind of deep south Camelot swept away by the late '60's. I had not seen him since 1961 or so, so his image in my memory has him in his youth just starting a wonderful career.

I just wanted to take a minute and let the family know what a difference Malcolm Norwood made in my life.
I am a former art student and 1985 graduate of Delta State. From the minute I walked into the art department as a confused and shy young student, I was welcomed and taken care of. Mr. Norwood always made sure that I was staying on track and that I had the much needed scholarship money to pay for my tuituon. Simply speaking, he was one of those significant people that come along in your life that make all the difference.
Now that I too am in higher education, I try to remember what all he did for me so that I in return can do for my students. I am eternally grateful.
