Amy Bourgault Obituary

Concord, NH - Amy Ireland Bourgault, 55 of Concord, NH, passed back to the Lord after a long courageous battle with Parkinson's Disease. Amy was born in Concord, N.H., January 16, 1966, to Robert and Anne (O'Donnell) Ireland. Amy leaves behind her loving husband of 20 years, Thomas Bourgault, and their two sons, Benjamin and Robert (Bobby) Bourgault, who she loved and cared for with all her heart, as well as their beloved dog, Scout. Her family was always the most important part of her life. She leaves behind a large loving family, sister Maureen, brother Robert and Wendy Ireland, brother Chuck and Donna Ireland, brother Dennis and Marilyn Ireland, sister Kathy and Phil Upchurch, brother Chris and Elizabeth Ireland, and sister Jennifer and Shawn Radil. On her husband's side, she is survived by her father-in-law Paul Bourgault, brother-in-laws Chuck Bourgault, Mike and Patricia Bourgault and sister-in-law, Paula and Robert Gray, as well as countless nieces and nephews whom she adored.

Amy graduated from Concord High School in 1984, and attended the University of Rhode Island, studying Marketing and Design. Amy found her passion in politics and worked in the NH State House for many years. She worked in various capacities, leaving as Chief of Staff having served two Senate Presidents, a career she loved every day. Amy went on to be Executive Director for the NH Community Colleges Foundation, another career she truly excelled at and then on to assist NH Kids Count and NH Hunger Solutions, as Interim Director, managing fundraising and grant research for this non-profit. Amy left her professional career behind to be at home with the boys she loved, while coping with and fighting Parkinson's, never once letting the disease or diagnosis get her down. She strived to find the positive every day, starting with getting Scout out for her and his morning, run, jog and walk and ending the day around the dinner table with her family.

Amy was an accomplished runner, training daily, running with the Granite State Running Club, winning numerous weekend 5K and 10k road races, also competing in the Boston Marathon 3 times, as well as the Tufts Invitational 10K and Peachtree Road Race in Atlanta, GA. Amy was a passionate volunteer for the Concord "Rock 'N Race" Committee from 2002-2018.

Amy mostly cherished and loved spending time with her family, especially the large Christmas gathering each year at Waterville Valley. She attended all her boys sporting and school events - cross country, lacrosse, hockey and loved going to a beach house or camping. Anywhere the boys wanted to go, she was there, loving every minute. Her smile told the whole story, she was always smiling. She will be missed by all who knew her, a loving, caring and compassionate woman. We know she will be looking down and caring for her boys from Heaven.

Memorial Visiting hours will be held Wednesday, March 24th, from 3-6 pm at Waters Funeral Home, 50 South Main Street, Concord, NH.

A Memorial Mass will be held Thursday March 25th at 10:30 am, at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church,180 Loudon Road, Concord.

Burial will follow in the Blossom Hill Cemetery, Concord, NH.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for the cure of Parkinson's Disease. PO Box 5014, Hagerstown, MD 21741-5014

Tom and Bourgault/Ireland Family, I am sorry to hear of Amy's passing. I knew her when we were about 12 years old because we had a mutual friend. I always admired Amy and would see the newspaper articles about her running. She was an amazing runner. I met up with her again working on NH Kids Count and NH Hunger Solutions. The last time I saw her was at Daisy Beach this past summer. She was such a sweet person. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

A prayer for Amy,
Father, thank you so much for your grace, mercy and goodness, for your message of hope, for Amy’s life, and how it was spent. We pray that we might all aspire to live as caring, compassionate and gracious as Amy did. We thank you that she is now in a safe place, and in your presence in heaven.
