Raymond E. Bourgault (92) of Sebastian, FL passed away after a short illness.
Ray was born in Saco, ME on June 3, 1933. He attended local schools and graduated from Thornton Academy in 1952. He joined the U.S. Navy two days later.
He was assigned to Bethesda Naval Hospital where he trained as a Medical Laboratory Technician. He was on active duty for 11 years.
He married Lorraine Gosselin in 1956. They had 3 children: Sharon Avery, Dennis Bourgault, and Cynthia Mihalick.
Ray and Lorraine settled in Hartford, CT and he opened his own Medical Laboratory. He served the medical community in Connecticut for many years.
Ray joined the Air Force Reserve in 1976 as a medic. He retired in 1991. He served his country for 28 years.
After his retirement Ray and Lorraine traveled the country in their RV from coast to coast, Mexico, Canada, and Alaska.
They settled in Sebastian, FL. Ray was the driving force in establishing an American Legion Post in Barefoot Bay and was Commander for many years.
He leaves behind his wife Lorraine of 69 years, daughter Sharon Avery of Cuba, NY, Dennis Bourgault and his wife Mary of Southwick, MA, daughter Cynthia Mihalick of Sebastian FL.
5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. His many brothers and sisters.
A visitation will be held at Hope Chapel Funeral Home on Wednesday. October 1st from 4–7 pm.
A Funeral Mass will be held at Most Holy Trinity Church Thursday, October 2nd at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
