Carmen Elizabeth Poirier Ferbee passed away after a strong and courageous battle with dementia. She was the oldest child of Philip Poirier and Antoinette (Bolduc) Poirier. Carmen was predeceased by her parents and her youngest sister, Cecile Poirier. She is survived by her sister, Claire Oliver and her husband Rick, brother-in-law Roland Poirier, five nieces, two nephews, and twelve great-nieces and nephews.
Born and raised in Biddeford, Carmen attended local schools and always had a love for city life. As soon as she could, she moved to Portland, and later to New York City, where she lived in Queens for 45 years. A true thrill-seeker with an adventurous spirit, Carmen embraced everything the city had to offer.
Throughout her life, she worked in a variety of fields, including cosmetology, makeup consulting, and office administration. After retiring in 1997, she returned to Portland to be closer to family.
Carmen's personality was larger than life. Fiercely independent, full of spunk, and never afraid to speak her mind, she made a lasting impression on everyone she met. She loved traveling, thrifting, and finding treasures to share with her beloved nieces and nephews, whom she adored.
Her family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to everyone at Biddeford Estates, where Carmen lived for the last 11 years following a stroke. The care and compassion she received meant so much to all of us.
Please join us in remembering Carmen on Monday, November 3rd from 9 a.m.–11 a.m. at Hope Memorial Chapel.
