She graduated as valedictorian of Norfolk High School and graduated with a major in organ from Nebraska Wesleyan University. After graduation, she spent four years as a church organist and school teacher in her hometown where she grew up across the street from Johnny Carson.
In 1956, she married Loren Doehrmann and they lived in Norfolk until coming to Evansville in January of 1958, when Mr. Doehrmann began teaching at Trinity Lutheran School in Darmstadt, Ind. Janet began her long music services to Trinity in 1958, when she became the organist. In 1983, Janet was installed as the Director of Music at Trinity, where she continued her service as the organist, accompanied the choir, and directed the school and church handbell choirs. During her lifetime, Janet spent more than a quarter century as a member of the Evansville chapter of the American Guild of Organists, including a stint as the past-dean. In addition, one of Janet's loves was accompanying elementary and high school age music students competing in the district and state music contests.
Janet's service at Trinity was not exclusive to music. She served as the church and congregational secretary. She was active in the LWML and she also helped with church and school publications including the Keep-in-Touch letter, two editions of a popular church cookbook, and with the On Eagle's Wings newsletter. In addition, she enjoyed bible class. Janet's long service to Trinity Church and School was recognized when she was presented with the Faithful Steward Award.
During her later years, Janet enjoyed traveling and was proud to have visited all fifty state capitols and over forty countries on four continents. She was also named an Admiral by the governor of Nebraska.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband of 46 years, Loren.
She is survived by her husband of five years, Ken Temme; son, Joel Doehrmann of Evansville; son, Derek Doehrmann and wife, Carrie, of Speedway, Ind.; stepchildren, Nettie Hopple of Evansville, Kim Temme of St. Louis, Mo., Stan and Linda Temme of Le Mars, Iowa; grandchildren, Molly and Sam Doehrmann of Speedway, Ind., and Christopher Doehrmann of Evansville; stepgrandchildren, Jenny and Michael Hall of Evansville, Alyce, Anya, Trenton and Tyler Hopple of Evansville, Lydia, David, Ruth, Jonathan, Lois and Silas Temme of Le Mars, Iowa.

Ken, Joel, Derek, Carrie and families,
Aunt Janet was one of those special people in my life as I'm sure she was to everyone else she met. Her sudden death will undoubtedly leave a huge void in all your lives as well as ours. She was a wonderful, faith-filled person who is surely having the time of her life now in Heaven.
Please know that our thoughts and prayers are truly with all of you. I wish we could've been in Indiana with you this weekend but we were in San Diego at the time.
Take care until our paths cross again.

Dear Ken, Joel and Family, Derek and Family:
We were shocked and saddened to learn of Janet's sudden death. Her dedication to her family, her church and her community is a tribute to her life.
As a child I always looked forward to the summer visits from the Indiana Doehrmanns. When they traveled to interesting places, they always brought us little momentos and we loved seeing the photographs and slides they shared. Janet honored us by being the organist at our wedding.
We pray that your dear memories will come to comfort you in the difficult days ahead. With our sincerest sympathy for your loss.

In My Pocket
I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.
My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.
They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.
Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.
But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.

Ken, Joel, Derek and families,
It is with great sadness that I write this note. Please accept my sincere sympathy. I knew and loved Aunt Janet for all the good things she brought to our Doehrmann Family and also for her caring, sincere devotion to her own family as well as her devotion to her church. We will all miss her. I will not be able to travel to Indiana, however, you will all be in my thoughts and prayers. God Bless.
