Gerda A. Ross

ROSS Gerda A. (Boes) Ross, age 81, of Pinewood Lake Trumbull, passed away on January 9, 2011 at Shelton Lakes Nursing Home. Mrs. Ross was born in Bridgeport to the late Karl and Anna (Guenster) Boes and was a longtime Trumbull resident. She also resided in Newburgh, NY for a number of years. She attended Bridgeport schools, graduating from Central High School. She married Wilbur T. Ross on April 22, 1950. She began her secretarial career in General Electric in Bridgeport. She had executive secretary positions at BIF Carlgen in Walden, NY and Salce Contracting in Stratford. She was predeceased by her husband Wilbur T. Ross, and her brothers Karl Heinz and Alfred Boes. She is survived by her daughters, Kathi Hodecker and her husband Girard of Hinsdale, MA, and Lisa Sorrentino of New Paltz NY, her granddaughters, Christine and Laura Sorrentino, her sisters Susan Spataro and her husband Joseph of Shelton, and Carol Hardy-Isberg and her husband Ernest Little River, S.C.; her sister-in-laws Virginia Boes of Troy, NH, Barbara Boes of Oxford, and Gertrude Smith of Spartanburg,S.C. and many nieces and nephews. Besides her family and friends she cherished her home at Pinewood Lake that she and her husband built in the 1950's. She enjoyed working in her flower gardens and making floral arrangements. After she became housebound, she still loved to watch the birds and wildlife from her back door. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church until it closed in May. She is currently a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. Friends and family are invited to attend her funeral services on Friday at 10 a.m. at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. Linda Kraft officiating. Interment in Mountain Grove Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Cyril F. Mullins Trumbull Funeral Home 399 White Plans Rd.
