Charles Reimers Obituary

Charles Rodney Reimers SAUGERTIES- Charles Rodney Reimers, 61, a longtime resident of Saugerties, N.Y., loving husband of Doreen (Paolillo) Reimers, passed away Tuesday, March 7, 2017, at Albany Medical Center. Born July 24, 1955 in Philadelphia, Pa., Charles loved all things Philly, from his childhood row home, Philly pretzels, and even the Philadelphia Phillies. While in high school, he worked his way up from a Cub Scout to the honorable rank of an Eagle Scout and was awarded this honor his senior year. After high school, Charles joined the United States Air Force and served his country for four years. From there Charles furthered his education at Penn Tech and received his degree in Computer Sciences. Charles was then transferred to Poughkeepsie, N.Y., to work at IBM. It was while in Poughkeepsie he met the love of his life, Doreen Paolillo. May 29, 1982 Doreen and Charles were married, and were looking forward to celebrating their 35th wedding anniversary. Charles lived a wonderful life, always surrounded by family, including his two sons, Jason and Eric, whom he loved dearly. He was often referred to by loved ones as Chuck, Charlie, Chuckles and even Poppy by his grandchildren. Charles enjoyed his cars. He enjoyed walking the local car shows, as well as visiting the international ones—he knew everything there was to know. He recently surprised his family with a fiery red 2012 Ford Mustang. Around town he could be seen walking his beloved, recently departed dog, Harley, and if he caught your ear you might have enjoyed one of his infamous bad jokes. Many were told not to encourage his punny sense of humor, yet it was hard not to chuckle with Chuckles. Charles is survived by his loving wife, Doreen (Paolillo); his children, Jason Reimers and wife Katie and their children Juliana and Noah; son, Eric Reimers and significant other Megan Carey; his siblings, Robert Reimers and his wife Diane of Perkasie, Pa., brother, Richard Reimers and his wife Barbara of Barrington, N.H.; sister, Margaret Parsons and husband Barry of Lancaster, Pa.; aunt, Eleanor Wusterhausen of Philadelphia, Pa.; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, great-nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his mother, Margaret Reimers; his father, Raymond Reimers, of Philadelphia, Pa.; and his cherished daughter, Victoria. His Funeral Service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home, Inc., corner of John & Lafayette Sts. Friends will be received Friday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be given to the Ulster SPCA or the Alzheimer's Association.
