Visitation will be from 3 until 9 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 7, at the funeral home. Born in Chicago, on St. Patrick's Day March 17, 1923, to Joseph and Rose (Laurie) Summaria, he passed away Sept. 2, 2010, in Tamarac, Fla. Rico grew up in the Humboldt Park neighborhood of Chicago and attended Lafayette Grammar School, where he met his future wife of 54 years Angelina "Jean" Bisinella. He grew up in a close knit family with his brothers, John, Eugene and Louie and sisters, Virgie and Marie. Later he moved to Oak Park, Ill., and first attended Marmion Military Academy in Aurora, Ill., and then graduated from Oak Park River Forest High School. He was a proud member of Chicago Local #134 of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and worked for Kil-Bar Electric, primarily at the Motorola facilities on Augusta Boulevard in Chicago and Franklin Park, Ill. "Hank," as he was known on the job, recently received a 60-year pin and letter of accommodation from the IBEW. Rico served in the U.S. Navy during World War II from 1943 to 1945 on an oil tanker in the Philippines, leaving a wife and new born baby at home. Rico had three children, Joe, Cynthia and Jim. The loving family lived in Oak Park for many years before moving to Schaumburg, where Rico and Jean stayed until their retirement to Tamarac, Fla., in 1985. They lived happily together in Florida until 1996, when Jean passed away. Rico had a full life in retirement playing cards with good friends, Tony and Nick. In 2007 he married his wife, Bobbie, and they enjoyed dancing and bowling together. He also greatly enjoyed music and movies. Rico leaves behind a legacy of love and caring to all he met, especially his family and relatives. "Uncle Rico" was very fond of all his many nieces and nephews. He was also very close to his brothers and sisters-in-law. Rico is survived by his wife of three years, Roberta "Bobbie" Summaria. He will be missed and remembered as a loving brother to John, Virginia, Eugene, Louis (Florence) and Marie (William) Prester, and as a loving father to Joseph (Judi), Cynthia Friedman (Barry) and James (Sheila). He adored his grandchildren Joe (Heidi) Summaria, Gina (Carl) Sutherland, Erica Friedman, Michael and Melissa Summaria, his great-grandchildren, Jake and Grace Summaria, Lindsey, Leslie and Lauren Sutherland.
