Patsy Miller Obituary

Patsy Hughes Miller, 93, of Memphis, TN, passed away on January 26, 2021 at her home. She was a member of The Church of the Holy Communion and a second-generation member of its All Saints Guild.

A scion to The Hughes Mechanical Company of Memphis founded by her father and grandfather over five decades ago, Patsy was around entrepreneurs her entire life and was not shy of the title herself. She owned Patsy's Flower Shop in West Memphis, AR. She converted her home into a bed and breakfast for several years and ran a successful Shaklee Nutrition Distribution from her home. Patsy was also the descendant of the contractor commissioned by the City of Memphis to pave the Historic Cobblestone Landing.

Patsy attended St. Agnes Academy for Girls and Normal Finishing School. Her hobbies included riding horses up and down Walnut Grove Road as a child, playing golf at Galloway Golf Course, studying at the Memphis Art Academy, working in her yard, painting, playing with her Bridge Club, spending time at Pat-a-Way Farm, meeting for breakfast at McDonald's on Summer Avenue and fulfilling her duties at The Nineteenth Century Club.

Patsy is survived by one son, Michael Miller of Memphis, TN; one daughter, Melanie Averwater of Memphis, TN; six grandchildren, Aimee Coffey (Tom), Natalie Martin, (Derrick), David Bogard, Katherine Garey (Ladd), Mena Miller, Christopher Averwater; five great-grandchildren and one brother, Howard Hughes.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Katherine Hughes, husband, Wayne Miller, daughter, Patty Bogard, and brother, Walter Hughes.

The visitation will take place on Thursday, February 4 at 2 o'clock at Memorial Park Funeral Home with a graveside service to follow at 3 o'clock at Memorial Park Cemetery.
