Eleanor Grehan Obituary
Jenny was born in 1940, the daughter of the late Katherine Jennings Powell and the late William Nowland Van Powell, architect and artist. She was the granddaughter of the late John Jennings, Jr., former judge and former Representative to the U.S. Congress, 2nd District of Tennessee.
Jenny graduated from the Hutchison School and attended Salem College and Southwestern (now Rhodes). She was a former member of Les Passes, the Little Club, and board member of the Symphony League.
She was a member of the Antiquarians, Colonial Dames of America, St. John's Episcopal Church, Memphis Country Club, and Life member of the Real Estate Multi-Million Dollar Club. Jenny sold real estate for Coleman-Etter-Fontaine and then the Hobson Company.
Jenny was married to the late Maxwell Davis Lucas, Jr., and then married to the late William Anthony Grehan.
She leaves behind her daughter, Katherine Jennings Lucas Hall of Greenville, SC (Richard); grandchildren Katherine Eleanor Murdoch and Woodie Lucas Murdoch; stepson Geoffrey Allan Grehan (Gable) of Brooklyn, NY; step-granddaughter Valerie Kathleen Grehan of New York, NY; and longtime companion Donald G. Austin, Jr.
A private service will be held Monday at St. John's Episcopal Church with burial to follow at Elmwood Cemetery. There will be no visitation due to Covid.
The family requests that memorial gifts be sent to St. Jude or the Church Health Center.
