After graduating from Villanova University with a degree in Civil Engineering in 1953, he was commissioned as an Ensign in the United States Navy as a Chief Engineer on the USS Robert L. Wilson (DDE847), retiring as a Lieutenant in 1958. Upon his discharge from the Navy, Jack joined the Wilbur B. Driver Company, a family owned manufacturer of alloys, and earned his master. in Metallurgy at Stevens Institute of Technology in 1960. After the subsequent sale of the Wilbur B. Driver Co. to GTE in 1967, Jack left the manufacturing business and became a Member of the New York Stock Exchange, joining the brokerage firm Carlisle DeCoppet & Company. Jack was a longtime member of the Committee of Managers in Llewellyn Park. He also maintained former residences in Longboat Key, Florida; Bondville, Vermont; and Convent Station, New Jersey. He was also a member of the Presidents Council at St. Elizabeth's College, and served for many years on the Boards of Newark Academy and the Montclair Community Hospital. He was a former member and trustee of the Essex County Country Club and at the time of his death was a Member Emeritus of the Baltusrol Golf Club where he was an avid golfer. In addition, he was an enthusiastic member of the choir at Notre Dame of Mt. Carmel Church.

Among many things, he will be remembered as a beloved patriarch, true friend, mentor to many, great partner, story and joke teller extraordinaire, and not the least, a distinguished gentleman. Dear Redmonds, I have the fondest memories of your Dad, and your entire family. It's time we reconnect. I have a house in Chester, Vermont not far from Manchester and Stratton, where I know the Redmonds have outposts. Also we are still on Long Beach Island on 39th Street where Rob's surfboard still resides. So sorry to learn of your Father's, Mother's and Jack's passing but I know they lived magical lives filled with love, family, friends and good times. I miss all of the Redmonds, you are such a great family and I am sure that has been passed on to the next generation. Unfortunately, in transition from one phone to another I lost all your phone numbers - please call or email, 410-310-6337, [email protected]. All the best to each of you, Matthew Fitzgerald

Rob,
Haven't seen you in years, but my brother in law Rich Leahey told me about your Dad. I was sorry to hear the news. It looks like he had a hell of a life, and left behind a lot to be proud of.

There is one less very special person in the world now but I will always remember "Big Jack" as a father to us Schubert's when Wally died. We have grown up together since Llewellyn Park days and share a million memories. He will live on forever in the hearts of everyone who loved him. He is finally home, painfree and at peace. This is not goodbye but see ya later! All my love.....Rie Rie
