After his 4 year compulsory military service, he opted to leave the military service and return to civilian life. He was then granted an Honorable Discharge with a "secret clearance" which made him an attractive asset to many military project oriented companies. He immediately was hired by the RCA Space Center in
Princeton, NJ as a Design and Development Engineer. During his many years at the RCA Aerospace Center, he remained in the inactive Air Force reserves, and was later given a deferment from any further active and inactive reserve military duty, based on his civilian employment involved with secret military related engineering design projects.
After a huge layoff at the RCA Space Center, he was then hired by Heinemann Electric as a Research and Development Engineer. Later he was recruited by Brown Bovary in
Philadelphia, PA as a plasma energy' Research and Development Engineer. He was later employed at Kingsbury Inc. for over 20 years as a Senior Design Engineer. While there, he was assigned responsibility as Project Engineer for all foreign European and Asian military and hydroelectric dam projects, including designing bearings for the French aircraft carrier Charles DeGaule, and also bearings for China's massive Great Gorge Dam project, just to highlight a few! After over 20 years at Kingsbury Inc, Ralph finally retired to care for his then ailing father, until his father passed away at the age of 97.
As a military veteran, he was a member of the American Legion Post 31 located here in Hamilton Township. He is also a member of the VFW.
