Brunner, Paul Andrew
Paul Andrew Brunner, a resident of Darien, Connecticut for nearly 33 years, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on Sunday, June 1st. He was 78 years old, born in Antwerp, Belgium but raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Mr. Brunner was the son of the late Ziegmund Brunner and Juliette Wisslitz Brunner. Paul received his bachelor's degree from University of Buenos Aires and his MBA from Syracuse University and was a licensed CPA. Paul then went on to became President of ASEA Brown Boveri Inc. in 1981, and subsequently President and CEO of Spring Capital in 1986. Paul also served lengthy and distinguished tenures on the Boards of both Johnson Controls Corp., and Trex Company Inc.
Friends and family would often refer to Paul as a renaissance man. He spoke seven languages and was an avid cellist in his free time. Paul also enjoyed reading, snow skiing, cycling and spending time with his grandchildren. Friends and family will miss his generosity, consul and love of the fine arts.
Paul is survived by his wife Elizabeth of Darien, his daughter Pamela Lancaster, Pamela's husband Olin and grandchildren Olin IV (14) and Christopher (12). Dan, I am deeply sorry for your loss. One of my best childhood memories was going on a field trip to the company where your Dad worked and learning about Robotics! I will pray for you and your family at this difficult time.
Best,

In the brief time I knew Paul, he shared many a funny anecdote. We conversed sometimes in Spanish at others in English and he had a keen knowledge of cultures that made him seem so in touch with the realities of the world. He was a remarkable man. We shared a special conversation when I saw him last about his exploits on the various slopes of CO and NM. Someday I will visit Taos as per his recommendation. May God Bless.
