Emilie W. Betts, formerly of Norwalk, CT passed away peacefully Friday, January 8, 2021 at her home in Darien, CT. She was 98 years old. Born on October 24, 1922 in Easton, PA., to Harlan and Lillian Woehrle, she married Robert B. Betts in July 1945, who preceded her in death in 1989.
After graduation from Easton High School and a position with Ingersoll-Rand during WWII, she and her husband, an advertising executive, raised three children later welcoming nephews and a niece to the family after the tragic death of their parents.
A life-loving person, Emmie was a devoted wife, mother and aunt, small business entrepreneur, gifted vocalist, artist, author and designer-owner of numerous homes.
Always the adventurer, Emmie encouraged family travel with Jackson Hole, Wyoming becoming the most treasured destination and second home to her family. "An angel to the arts", Emmie was an early and avid supporter of now established arts organizations in Jackson, WY.
She will be very missed by her family, friends and admirers.
Survivors include her children, Brooks Betts of Rowayton, CT., Budd Betts and wife, Emi, of Dubois, WY., her brother, Harlan Woehrle of Las Vegas, NV., her nephews, Richard, James, Christopher and John Betts, and her niece Kathleen Betts-Lewis, and their families; her grandchildren, Christine and Catherine Charleston, daughters of Anne Betts Charleston who preceded her mother in death; Lindsay Betts Judd, Robert Betts, and great grandson, Eldon.
Celebrations of her life will occur later in the year; details will be forthcoming. Donations may be made to your charity of choice in her name.
