Very seldom in our lives do we come across a person that we look up to and respect for the type of person they are. I was fortunate to have that person be my Baseball, Basketball, and football, coach during my most important formative years. 1967-1971. Fred was so dedicated and committed to making us the best we could be. He had a way of bringing out the best in each player in a positive way. Even if you weren't the best player on the team. He taught us to all work together for the common good of the team. He spent so many hours drawing up plays for us{I still have the play book} and even back then scouted out our opponent to better our chances of victory. He built such a team spirit that I felt closer to many of my teammates than my own family. His house was always open to any player and often my second home. Fred and Lois fed me and treated me as one of their own. They are both very generous and giving people.
I think its safe to say my sports career peaked in the 8th grade. It all climaxed when I was able to play at River Front Stadium in Cinn. at the first Pop Warner Super youth bowl in 1971. All because of Mr. Fred Engler and the love of the kids he was coaching. He's given me so many fantastic memories in some of the best years of my life. He is a true legend I am forever grateful to the Englers .I picture you and Woody Hays together Fred.

I was fortunate to have that person be my Baseball, Basketball, and football coach during my most important formative years.1967-1971. He was so dedicated and committed as a coach I often wondered how he did all he did and still have time to work a job. He gave up every evening and every weekend to make our teem and experience the best it could possibly be. He didn't like to loose, and had a way of bringing out the best in each player in a positive way, even if you were not the best on the team.
