To the family of Dr. Clark,
I am so sorry to hear of Dr. Clark's death. He was my son's attending physician in Good Sam's emergency room on a couple of occasions. This must have been in 2000. Both my children were diagnosed with Myotonic Muscular Dystrophy in August 1999 at the ages of 28 and 31 after a long search for the source of their challenges. Dr. Clark revealed to my son that he, too, had this disease. When my son told me, I was eager to talk with him to see if his experience might help my children in some way. He was kind enough to call me on a couple of occasions. I didn't know his name. And then this evening I just happened to read of his death in the paper and realized that he is the doctor who talked with me. My son died in a house fire in May of 2008. My daughter is now 41 and struggles every day with this disease. I, too, am a member of The Myotonic Dystrophy Foundation. When I read of Dr. Clark's death in the paper, I just wanted to reach out to his family and let you know that he touched our life, of my gratitude for his willingness and kindness in talking with me, and of my sorrow at his loss. May God bring you comfort in the days ahead and bless you with many joyful memories.
