To My Beautiful Sister ~ Beverly Virginia Dodd Shelton
God saw that you were getting tired
And a cure was not to be
So he put his arms around you
And whispered "come with me"
With tearful eyes
We watched you suffer
And watched you fade away
Although we loved you dearly
We couldn't make you stay
A Golden heart stopped beating
Tired working hands to rest
God broke our hearts
To prove to us, he only takes the best
In Loving Memory

(My dad was very touched to be included in the obituary. He was surprised and saddened by her passing. He wanted to make sure to include something to express his sympathy and love for his sisters family.)

Vicky and Tommy, I know your hearts are broken and I wish I could help take the pain away. I never had the opportunity to meet Beverly and wish I could have. She was the strongest, most unselfish person from what you told me, Vicky. How she faced the many battles she endured is beyond most people's ability. I know she knew how much both of you loved her. God loves her too and finally wanted to call her home.

Vicky: I was saddened to hear of your mother's passing. Your loving care enabled her to survive her many bouts of cancer. God's peace and blessings to you and your family.
