AGE: 69 • Newark, DE
Daniel F. Delcollo, Jr, age 69, of Newark, DE, passed away at his home on Monday, May 15, 2017.
Born in Wilmington, Daniel was the son of Catherine J. (Cone) Delcollo and the late Daniel F. Delcollo, Sr. He proudly served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War. After graduating from William Penn High School in 1966, he earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Wilmington University. Dan lived his life one day at a time with a passion for helping others find their sobriety. He was an avid golfer with a quick wit and a joke for every situation (insert favorite joke you heard him tell countless times).
Dan will be dearly missed by his wife of 30 years, Irene "Renie" (DiIorio) Delcollo; his sons and daughters-in-law, Daniel F. III and Terese Delcollo of Hockessin, Kevin J. and Shana Delcollo of Newark; his daughter, Lisa Marie Delcollo of Bear; his mother, Catherine Delcollo of Wilmington; his sister and brother-in-law, Catherine and Eric Engberg of Wilmington; his stepdaughters, Marie Lemmon and her husband, William Nau of Woodbridge, VA and Lisa Giobbe of Bear; and his nine grandchildren, Abigail, Alexandria, Dylan, Sadie, Vincent, Gavin, Nicola, Tyler and Dominic.
Friends and family are invited to visitation on Sunday, May 21st after 2 PM at Mealey Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2509 Limestone Road, Wilmington Delaware. Funeral services will begin at 4 PM. Burial will be at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear on Monday, May 22nd at 10 AM.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America, 733 3rd Avenue #510, New York, NY 10017 or at www.ccfa.org. Condolences may be made by visiting www.MealeyFuneralHomes.com

I am very sad to learn of Danny's death. I remember how he always had a smile and a pleasant greeting when we met. He seemed to love and care for the people he knew and helped. I am sad for your loss.

I was so saddened to hear of Danny's passing. We went through eight years at Our Lady of Fatima together. He was instrumental in teaching me how to ride a two wheeler down Hunn Rd when I was five years old. I have many fond memories of Danny and I hope all of your good memories will get you through these hardest of times.

It seems only a short time ago that we spent a lot of time together doing what high school students do. We had a real and honest friendship during those years and we would only see each other from time to time as years past and our lives went in different directions BUT EVERYTIME we saw each other it was a real genuine feeling/greeting. Dan would say "how you doing" and he really wanted to know. HE CARED ABOUT FRIENDSHIPS and all of his friends and high school buddies. I have so many great memories. R.I.P BUDDY [SO GLAD I GOT TO PLAY GOLF WITH YOU.]
