Margaret Kelleher Dougherty

Margaret K. Dougherty, 90, of Wilmington, Delaware, passed away on Saturday, November 10, 2012 surrounded by family members.

On November 17, 1921, Margaret was born in Kaolin, Pennsylvania to Daniel L. Kelleher and Margaret Burke Kelleher.

She was predeceased by her husband of over fifty years, Francis C. Dougherty, who passed away in 1997. She is survived by five daughters, Margaret (Albert) Conner, Essaline Dickey, Patricia (James) Flaherty, Danielle (Ronald) Stoner, and Colleen (Brian) Murphy, 15 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.

Additionally, she is survived by two brothers and sisters-in law, Daniel Kelleher and his wife, Jean, Dennis Kelleher and his wife, Eva, and two sisters, Patricia Kelleher and Katherine Smith.

A graduate of Kennett High School and St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing (Class of 1943), she served as a 1st Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Nurse Corp at Clark Field, Philippine Islands, Manila and in Korea. She then went on to do private duty nursing, retiring in 1976.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, November 19, at 11 am at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 2503 Centerville Rd., in Wilmington. Relatives and friends may visit with the family, at the church from 10 to 11 am. Following the Mass, burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery in Ashland. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Catherine of Siena Church, 2503 Centerville Rd., Wilmington, DE 19808.
