Vivian and I worked together at a diner in Cape May, and she introduced me to Sauternes and steamed clams. I think it was the year Elvis Presley died. We lost track of each other, but today as I was cleaning a closet, I came upon a letter she wrote me in October of 1979. She was a true force of nature. A gorgeous human being. With a fierce mind. I have never forgotten her. I am deeply sorry for her family.

VIvian was my close friend in middle and upper school. I remember her long, thick gorgeous hair, her intelligence, playing tennis with her in the summer, playing the clarinet in band, and doing just about everything together. I loved her refeshing perspective.
My deepest regrets to Viv's family...we are all blessed to have had her in our lives.

I had the honor of knowing Ms. Branton when I was in high school. Not being a big fan of school at the time I would cut class a lot but made sure to come back for hers. I've met many teachers in my time and she was by far one of the greatest. She had a way of making you want to go to class. She taught me things about school, life, & myself that I didn't know or realize before. She was truly inspirational and such a special woman. My condolences go out to the family. She will be missed.

I was so saddened by this news. I was pretty close to Vivian in high school, remember some surprise birthday party at her home, her amazing speech when she was running for Vice President of our class, her beautiful mane of hair, her sweet smile. My thoughts and prayers are with your whole family.

I was a student of Mrs. Jones in Christiana High School. She was a unique and wonderful teacher. She made a huge impression on me and many of my friends. I can still remember coming into her English class for the first time and seeing her standing on her desk! I still have some of the stories she wrote for our class, and the poetry booklets that she helped the students write and publish in our school. She was an inspiration to many people and she will be missed and fondly remembered by many people. God bless her family and loved ones in this difficult time.--Lacey Satterfield CHS c/o 1992.

I have fond memories working with Vivian early in our careers. She challenged my (sign language) interpreting skills with her witticisms, references and sheer speed of her train of thought. Vivian cared deeply for her students, especially those with difficult lives. I will remember her as one of the most energetic, dynamic teachers for whom I've interpreted. My heartfelt sympathy to the family.

Sending our love to Brad, Vanessa and Kenzie for the loss of wonderful Viv. She was so special to me and so many others. Viv was the smartest woman I have ever known and one of the kindest as well. She worked tirelessly to help start the Avon Grove Charter School and she motivated me and many others to join the cause. We all owe her a debt of gratitude for that. She was also a very dear and loyal friend. I will never forget when my Grandma passed away and Viv knew how hard it was for me, she rushed right over with homemade lasagne so I wouldn't even have to think about cooking. She knew I needed comfort food. She was such a loving Mother and wife and her family meant the world to her. We will all miss her dearly. I consider myself blessed to have called her my friend and am a better person for having known her. Love you Viv!
