Alice Liechty Obituary
AGE: 63 • Newark
Alice R. Liechty, age 63, of Newark, DE, left this life on Sunday, January 10, 2016 after a trying illness.
She was raised in Columbia, Illinois in a festive and caring family. She excelled in school and was active in many academic and social organizations. Alice attended Eastern Illinois University and graduated in 1974 with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Education. She taught mathematics for three years and then dedicated her efforts to raising her children. She was active for 20 years in Newark's elections and served on the Board of Elections for many years. Alice had a love for life and accumulated friends with whom she was always eager to share a story or two. She was a great homemaker, wife, mother, sister and friend and will be sorely missed.
She is survived by her husband, Mel Liechty; children, Alison Gilefski (David) and Dr. Benjamin Liechty (Katherine Jong); siblings, Ralph Baumer, Patricia Kalert, and Don Baumer; along with loving extended families on both sides too numerous to mention here.
Visitation for family and friends will be held from 5:30 pm until 7:30 pm on Wednesday evening, January 13, 2016 at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 W. Park Place, Newark, Delaware 19711.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to "The Krysti Bingham Cerebral Palsy Foundation", KBCPF, 5577 South DuPont Parkway, Smyrna, DE 19977. Additional information on KBCPF can be found at www.krysti.org.
