James Welch Obituary
Salisbury - James Gilbert Welch was born in 1925 in North Bend, Oregon, to Pearl and Wendell Welch. He grew up on the Oregon coast and in Eugene, Oregon.
Jim served in WWII in Europe as a weatherman. Afterwards he graduated from the University of Oregon, where he met his future wife, Lee Warnock. They had two daughters, Sarah and Regan.
Jim began his career as a journalist at Eugene's Register Guard. He became managing editor at Salem's Capital Journal, at that time Salem's evening newspaper. He moved to Washington D.C. while working for a wire service.
Jim enjoyed painting, travel, and was a pilot. He retired to Salisbury, MD, with his partner Claire Lipsman, who predeceased him.
The last years of his life were spent at Parsons Assisted Living under the care of its wonderful staff. He died on July 5, 2018. There will be no service.
