Kayner, Richard "Dick" Millard
Gasport: Age 77, entered into rest on Thursday, October 4, 2007. Born August 14, 1930, in Niagara Falls, New York, he was the son of the late Howard and Ruth (nee Wilson) Kayner.
Dick served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict as a Sergeant First Class. He served from August 21, 1947, until November 4, 1953.
Dick married Edna Mae Macek, June 24, 1950, at Newfane United Methodist Church. They had been married for 57 years. He had worked for the Niagara County Sheriffs Department, was a welder at Simonds - Guteral Steel for 23 years and most recently worked at NCCC in Building Maintenance retiring in 1994 after 10 years. Dick was a member of Middleport United Methodist Church, the Gasport Masonic Lodge #787, and B.Leo Dolan American Legion Post #410. He enjoyed building remote control airplanes. He had lived in Gasport the past 37 years, previously of Middleport.
Loving husband of: Edna Mae Kayner. Dear father of: Reverend Richard Howard (Reverend Mary) Kayner of Warsaw and Linda Lea (Brian) Mix of Churchville. Grandfather of: Jennifer (James) Honan, Christina Kayner, Timothy (Jehan) Kayner and Jessica Mix. Great-grandfather of: Elizabeth, Andrew, Mary Kate, David, Josiah and Grace Honan, and Trenton Kayner. Brother of: Marilynn (Edward) Allgeier of Wilson and the late Howard Buss Kayner; nephew of: Mildred Gowling of Lewiston.
Family and friends are invited to attend visitation at the Sherrie-Bream Funeral Home, 4521 Main Street, Gasport, on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral services will be held from the funeral home on Tuesday at 11:00 am with Dick's son, the Reverend Richard Howard Kayner officiating. Interment will be in North Ridge Cemetery, Cambria, NY.
Flowers gratefully declined, memorials appreciated to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY 14094, or to a charity of one's choice.
