Dan was an enjoyable colleague on the AARP volunteer advocates committee, where I got to know him over the last several years. He tackled the topics which gave the rest of us the shivers, like taxes and finance, utilities and legislative process. He approached our volunteer advocacy and occasional legislative testimony with an excellent sense of humor and balance. We all enjoyed being a part of the committee with him and know that his contributions helped our citizens and the state.

It was my pleasure to be friends with Dan and Fran. I was their travel agent. Having lived in Denver many years, I helped Dan and Fran make their travel dreams come true. Dan and Fran once accompanied myself and my wife on a cruise to the Caribbean. We had such a wonderful time. I will remember Dan and Fran during those happier times. My wife and I did visit Dan and Fran twice in the last five years. Its a little harder since we moved to Asheville, NC 15 years ago. But I always stayed in touch by calling or E-mailing, and praying for Dan daily. Its good to know that Dan is walking and talking and once again living free. Enjoy my friends, you are most deserved . ..

Deepest sympathy to Lorraine and all the Chapman family,We grew up with the Chapman family and lived on Sachem Plains Road. I always remember Danny as a great kid and we were a family of six,so we played with all the Chapman's and waited at the bus stop with them, Our favorite game was Hop Scotch. Please know that our hearts are with all the family at this time. Danny''s lBeautiful light will shine on in all that knew him.

I am honored to have known Dan for over 15 years. We started out on a professional level, me as his personal trainer, him as trainee and almost immediately became lasting friends. He was always so driven and focused even when he was diagnosed with ALS, he knew he would beat it and we worked together almost until the end. I will always cherish our healthy debates about Baseball, Woman's College basketball and anything pertaining to Boston. He was a intelligent, remarkable man and I will miss him dearly. Also sending love to his amazing wife Fran and his family.

I did't know him well, but I remember his awesome sense of humor when he made the toast at Terri and Doug's wedding. So sad for this terrible loss. God bless and comfort the family.

I worked with Dan from 1999 to 2006 at the State Capital. He was always the consummate professional. I will be ever grateful to him for his leadership and effort in making the Council of State Goverments-West annual meeting a huge success in 2006 In Breckenridge. May he Rest In Peace and his family and friends always remember what a great person he was.

Dan Chapman was an outstanding public servant, working and supporting our system of self government by providing his expertise to the Colorado State Legislature. I had the pleasure to know Dan and work with him very closely when I was in the House and Senate, and appreciate all he did for us all these many years. He was a gentleman and a scholar, and added much to all he touched.
