Alan Tillquist Obituary

Tillquist, Alan B. Madison, WI/Boulder, CO, age 59, died on Sunday, July 17, 2011 at the UW Hospital in Madison. He was born on December 13, 1951 to Leonard and Gladys Tillquist in Denver, Colorado. Alan was a proud Wheat Ridge Farmer, and a graduate of the University of Colorado Boulder. Go Buffs! The only thing Alan treasured more than a round of golf, a pint of Guiness, and the mountains of home, was his role as a father. Alan is survived by his three children, Stacy, Jackson and Matthew; his two grandchildren, Avery and Mason; his mother, Gladys of Colorado Springs, CO; his siblings, Richard (Carolyn) and Ann (Charles); and was loved by 17 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father. A memorial service will be held at 12 Noon on Friday, July 22, 2011 at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, 5313 Flad Avenue, Madison. Throughout Alan's long battle with leukemia, he received countless units of blood and platelets, and a successful bone marrow transplant thanks to an "anonymous friend from abroad." In Alan's memory, please consider donating blood at the American Red Cross or becoming a bone marrow donor through bethematch.org.

The Tillquist family was always a staple for me as a child. Allan, the big brother of my best friend, Ricky, seemed to be a take-charge kind of guy, as I remember it. Your entire family was and continues to be a blessing to the community. Sounds like Allan was blessed in this life that has so many highs and lows. It is always a wild ride. My condolences go out to all the family.

I was so sorry to hear about Allan. My sympathies go out to all the family. When I first read this my mind zoomed back to our early grade school years when Rick and I hung around alot together. Allan the big brother was always there and even at that young age was a very kind hearted guy.

Thank God for the blessing of having Allan in our lives.
