Mitch Anderson Obituary

Mitch Patrick Anderson, 19, passed away Monday, May 8, 2017. He was born April 15, 1998 in Nashua, NH the son of Mike and Laura (Kalkowski) Anderson. He was raised in Larkspur, CO and attended Larkspur Elementary, going on to Castle View High School and then graduated in 2016 from Palmer Ridge High School. Mitch's first job was at Horse Thief Campground. He went on to work at the Larkspur Pizzaria, KFC, Tony's Market, Jimmy John's, Parry's Pizza and lots of yard work around Larkspur. Usually, he was working two jobs at the same time, always a hard worker. Mitch was a natural at anything he tried. He was a talented self-taught musician that could strum any guitar, beat on any drum set. His fearless and adventurous spirit brought him to the outdoors, whether on his bike at the skatepark or in his Jeep that he loved to tinker with, preparing for annual family trips to Moab. Mitch was always surrounded by the countless people he touched throughout his life with his selfless personality. He was a catalyst for a good time, always quick with a smile or joke to brighten any room. Survivors include his parents, Mike and Laura, Larkspur, brother Michael, Denver, sister Sarah, Larkspur; uncles and aunts Andrew and Anne Anderson, Colchester, VT; Debi and James Abolt, Brookfield, WI; Patricia and Jon Mendes, Carlsbad, NM; cousins Ellen and Joseph Abolt; grandparents Peggy Reid, Douglas, WY; Garnet and Maria Anderson, Tucson, AZ; Jan and Dick Quinn, Venice, FL, Ruth Kalkowski, Moorhead, MN. He was preceded in death by his grandfather Larry Kalkowski. Services will be held at The Rock Church, 4881 Cherokee Drive, Castle Rock on Monday, May 15th at 4:30 P.M. Viewing will be at Olinger Andrews Caldwell Gibson Chapel, 407 Jerry Street, Castle Rock on Monday, May 15th from 12 to 2 P.M. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Mitch P. Anderson Memorial Fund at First Bank in Castle Rock for a future memorial in his name.

From the staff and volunteers at Audubon Society of Greater Denver: Many condolences from all of us for your loss. We had a Mother's Day event at our nature center on Sunday and met Andrew and Anne Anderson (uncle and aunt from Vermont). They spent several hours with us birding and taking pictures of the birds around our nature center and on the grounds. They mentioned they enjoyed spending time in nature that day, and it was such a pleasure meeting them and watching the birds.

I didn't know Mitch personally but did know him through my brother-in-law. Iwas struck by how taken he was with Mitch not having kids of his own or spent much time w young people. My heart is breaking for my brother-in-law Andy, my baby sis Anne, Mitch's parents, siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents and everyone he knew and loved in his short life. There are no words! Godspeed Mitch!

Mitch was one of my best friends. We met at Larkspur Elementary during 6th grade, he was very welcoming to me and we had a wonderful time for 7th grade at Castle Rock Middle. I moved to the Lewis-Palmer District for the rest of my schooling, and was pleasantly surprised when I saw Mitch show up our Sophomore year in Mr. Saye's class. Our friendship continued, and we had great times driving around Monument getting McDonald's, always showing each other different music and watching BMX videos. We didn't talk much after I left school, but the memories I have with him will forever be remembered. Miss you Mitch, you were my main hombre. If there is an afterlife, I look forward to riding around there with you.
