Mr. Shell was an excellent teacher, the best I ever had. During the three years that he taught me, I learned much more than mathematics.

Mr. Shell.... what can I say and where do I go with this? What an amazing man he was. He made such a difference in my life. He was my principal through out all of elementary. I got to be a part of the farewell party thrown for him on the last day of school. The party was the last day at Edgemont for me too. I got to see his eyes mist as all of us children sang a song that one of the teachers had made to the music of "Mickey Mouse Club". I still remember the words from 30 years ago. I feel the words are relevant to his life and love for us children.
"Who's the leader of the school that's made for you and me? G-E-O-R-G-E S-H-E-L-L. Mr. Shell, we love you. Mr. Shell, yes we do. Forever will we hold your memory high, high, high, high. For your love and for your help, we want to say thank you. You're the best, Mr. Shell, we'll always love you." I have always held his memory high. He knew all of us kids at Edgemont and always stood up for us. We all knew without any doubt that he truly loved all of us kids. I strive to live up to the example he set for us.
Every school should have a Mr. Shell for a principal. Mr. Shell will be greatly missed.

I remember Mr. Shell as one of the best principals I've ever worked under at Edgemont Elementary. I served as PTA President for two years there and in several aspects of PTA before being president. All of my children attended school there and remember Mr. Shell as being "the best principal". He truly loved children and people. One thing I will never forget that he taught me was that a person's name is most important. I know that he knew the first and last names of the 400+ students he served as well as their siblings and parents names. He was a great man. I will never forget him. My sincerest condolences to your family along with prayers of comfort at this difficult time. Karen Rees

I can't express enough the love and influence Uncle George has had on my life. He has a way about him that inspires others to do more, to reach higher, and appreciate all that surround us. From his magnificent garden to his love for genealogy and his quick wit, Uncle George will always be a gentle spiritual giant that I greatly admire. Throughout the years, Uncle George made me feel special and valued. His chuckle and smile, continuously brightens my day. I love to speak to my own children about the incredible man Uncle George is and the many talents he has developed. It is very difficult to accept the passing of a great man when the world desperately needs more Uncle George's. My husband (Dave) and I still can't believe he is in a better place but rejoice in the many gifts he left behind. Uncle George you are a great man and will continue to be. I hope you (Aunt Anna Mae, Phillip and Katie, Georgann, Frieda and Brad, Lloyd and Lauriann, grandchildren & great grandchildren) feel our love and wish we could be there to honor his legacy. May the Lord shower tender mercies upon all of you this day and throughout your journey. Know that we are thinking of you and sending our prayers. With deep sincerity, I love you and so glad you are part of my family. Love, Stephanie

Mr. Shell was my math teacher at Mt. Jordan Junior High. He was a wonderful teacher, and a very kind man who was extraordinarily patient with this math-challenged student. I remember him with great affection, and I am so sorry for your loss.
