Glen Miller Obituary

March 28, 1953 ~ May 9, 2014
Glen J. Miller, age 61, passed away surrounded by his entire family Friday, May 9, 2014.
Glen was born March 28, 1953 the second child of Dennis L. Miller and Margaret Glenn Miller. He attended Ogden City and Cache Valley schools, graduating from Skyview High School in 1971, later earning his degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Utah.
Glen learned his strong work ethic early on by working many long and cold hours on his Grandfather's farm. He was an Electrical Engineer for nearly 20 years for Evans and Sutherland and was a highly sought-after professional in his field. He traveled the world for his job and lived in many countries for months at a time. Glen built a strong reputation for being dependable, passionate, detail-oriented and autonomous.
Glen's marriage to Kimberli Reese brought the two greatest blessings of his life, his son, Matthew Thomas Miller and his daughter, Meghan Miller. Glen always considered being a Father his single most important calling and put his children above everything else he loved in this world.
Glen was an Eagle Scout, a skillful golfer and an accomplished carpenter. Mostly as a favor to his Mother, he became an accomplished accordionist and performed on many family occasions at the request of his Grandma Miller and Grandma Glenn. Glen was greatly loved by his nieces and nephews and he taught many of them along with his children how to swim, fish and golf. Glen's happy nature, wicked sense of humor, corny jokes, but mostly his unconditional love will be missed by his children, his brothers and sister and his many adoring nieces and nephews. Glen was a constant and authentic example of complete and absolute love, acceptance and support to his family and friends.
He is survived by his children, Matthew and Meghan Miller, Salt Lake City, his mother, Margaret Miller, Kaysville, brothers David, Bountiful, Bart (Ron Carter), Carpinertia, CA, his sister, Debra Lee (David) Smith, Kaysville, and many loving nieces, nephews, family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his father, Dennis L. Miller.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm, Monday, May 19, at the Orchard Chapel, 1282 W 1875 North, Farmington, UT. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. A graveside ceremony will be held at 10:00 am, Tuesday, May, 20th, at the Hyrum Cemetery.

I hadn't seen Glen in a while but I counted him among my friends. We went to college together, played golf together (I could never seem to beat him), worked at Sperry Univac together, worked at E&S together and were roomates for a time at Lake Pines in Murray. When I read the comment about his wicked sense of humor it made me smile and reflect that though much time has passed Glen seemed true to himself in the end. Bro you will be missed. In heaven, assuming I can make it there, I plan to legitimately beat your butt in golf for the very first time.
