Des Moines
Ervin Thomas Fuson, 91, went home to his Lord and Savior on Monday, November 24, 2014. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 29 at 10:00 a.m. at Hamilton's on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines. Family will greet friends following the service. Burial will be at Bondurant Cemetery.
Ervin was born on November 8, 1923 in Winterset, IA to Lester and Rubina (Bole) Fuson. He graduated from North High School in Des Moines. He served in the Army during World War II. Ervin was privileged to take the Honor Flight to Washington, DC in 2009. He worked for IMT Insurance Company for over 40 years retiring in 1989 as Executive Vice President.
Ervin had many interests and talents. He was the Pastor at Vine Street Gospel Chapel, sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ for over 60 years. He volunteered with Iowa Lutheran Hospital Auxiliary for over 20 years, serving as President and in various leadership positions. Ervin also enjoyed gardening, reading, traveling and attending events for his grandchildren. He was a devoted family man. He built their house in the early 50's, the only home they ever had. Remarkable in this age of transition.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Miriam; children, Michael (Cynthia) Fuson, Steven (Mary Jo) Fuson, Keith Fuson, and Karen (Terry) Wells; grandchildren, Pamela (John) Beckman, Deborah (Louis) Holub, Tyler (Jennifer) Wells, Nathan (Lindsay) Wells, Jacob (Colleen) Wells, Samuel Fuson, Rebecca (Matthew) Weller, David (Nicki) Fuson, and Rachel Fuson; and 9 great-grandchildren. Ervin was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Doris Whitman.

So sorry to the Fuson family for your loss. I was personnel secretary @ IMT from 1970-75 and it was a pleasure working with Erv. He had a great singing voice and was an all around good guy!

Mike and family, So sorry to read of the loss of your Dad. Although I never knew him well, it appears he lived a full and rewarding life. May you all have peace knowing he achieved so much. Can't believe he and your Mom stayed on Madison Street all these years!
