Tommy Browning Obituary

Tommy Lee "TL" Browning, 76, passed away Saturday, Nov. 22, 2014, in the loving arms of his family. Memorial service: 1:30 p.m. Friday in Greenwood Chapel. Interment: Greenwood Memorial Park. Fellowship will follow at the family residence. Tommy was born Oct. 21, 1938, in Fort Worth to Edward Lee Browning and Kathryn Godby Browning. He graduated from Polytechnic High School. He served in the U.S. Air Force Reserve from April 1957 to April 1965. He married his high school sweetheart, Lilith Adam, on May 27, 1961. He worked for Educational Employees Credit Union for over 20 years until he retired as executive vice president in the mid-1980s. He joined the Tarrant County Sheriff's Department in 1989 and worked until he retired as a sergeant in 2006. He and his wife of 53 years had two children: daughter, Kimberlie Browning, and son, Adam Browning. Tommy loved life and never met a stranger. He always had a good story to tell and could make everyone around him feel important. He loved to laugh, even at himself. He loved the Texas sunshine and gardening. He also enjoyed drag racing, hot rods and antique cars, especially his 1966 Ford F-150 truck. But more than anything else in the world, he loved his family. The family would like to thank Covenant Care Hospice for the tender and loving care they provided to Tommy and his loved ones. Survivors: Loving wife, Lil Browning; daughter, Kim Browning; son, Adam Browning and wife, Shawn; grandsons, Dustin, Cory and Austin; great-grandson, CJ; aunts, Betty Clements, Jeannine Dossey and husband, Weldon; and many additional family members and friends.

My prayers are with Mrs. Browning and the Browning family as we all share this loss. I met Tommy when we worked together getting his retirement in place. He always had a smile and kind words. One of the nicest for sure.

May God bless and comfort Tommy's family. Tommy was one of the friendliest and kindest people I've known. I'll never forget how much it meant to me when He and Kim visited my wife at the hospital after our accident. He was one-of-a-kind. I'll miss you Tommy.

Ms. Browning and family, I am so sorry for your loss. I worked with Tommy at both the credit union and then at the Sheriff's Dept. Tommy was always fun to be around and most of the time was very upbeat. I will miss him dearly.
