David McKeen Obituary

McKEEN David R. McKeen, age 57, Saturday, February 12, 2005, after a long fight with lung cancer. David was a class of 1965 graduate of the General H.H. Arnold High School in Wiesbaden, Germany. He earned a B.A. Degree from Emory and Henry College in Emory, VA where he was a member of the Alpha Phi Omega Service Fraternity. He received a M.S. Degree from Xavier University in Cincinnati, OH. David had a long career with the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction, serving in various capacities including Deputy Warden, Warden, and Deputy Director. Survived by his loving wife of 19 years, Marcia L. McKeen, (of Reynoldsburg); sons, Kyle P. and Sean R. McKeen, (at home in Reynoldsburg); daughter and son-in-law, Sharon L. and Corie Rapp (Las Vegas, NV); father and step-mother, Major General (Ret.) Chester M. and Sally W. McKeen (Arlington, TX); sister and brother-in-law, Karin and Michael Frazier (Ft. Worth, TX); and brother, Thomas K. McKeen (Virginia Beach, VA); mother-in-law, Martha Foulk (Columbus); brother-in-law, Lawrence Foulk and his wife Kathy (Johnstown); sister-in-law, Margaret Snoddy and her husband Rick (Cuyahoga Falls, OH); and many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother Virginia P. McKeen and his father-in-law Charles E. Foulk. David was a 50 year member of the Boy Scouts of America, earning Eagle Scout in 1963 and receiving the Silver Beaver Award in 2002. His service covered all levels of scouting, from the Pack and Troop to the National Office. He was a member of Blendon Lodge, #339 F&AM, Scottish Rite Valley of Columbus, and the Aladdin Temple Shrine. He was a veteran member of the Brutal Brothers and past president of the Northeast Shrine Club. He belonged to the Honorary Order of Kentucky Colonels and was appointed an Admiral in the Texas Navy. Professionally he was a long time member of the America Correctional Association and also belonged to the North American Association of Wardens and Superintendents. Friends may call Tuesday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at COTNER FUNERAL HOME, 7369 East Main Street, Reynoldsburg. There will be a Masonic Service following the 8 p.m. calling hours. Memorial service to be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at the Cotner Funeral Home, Pastor Robert Keys officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Boy Scouts of America, Simon Kenton Council, 1901 East Dublin-Granville Road, Columbus, OH 43229, or the American Cancer Society, Ohio Division, Inc., 5555 Frantz Road, Dublin, OH 43017.
