Buzz was aptly nicknamed, however he actually came by it. Whenever he was around he inevitably generated a buzz. I'm a lawyer who practiced with him and against him. It was always interesting. As state representative he was responsible for the legislation enabling Hocking County to have a municipal court. We worked together on that when I was Hocking Municipal Judge. He was a very able lawyer and state representative and friend. Lou Henniger

We were Mechanicsburg buddies with many common memories of teachers and schoolmates. We also spent many years in the Athens legal community. The last five years my wife and I have shared a special friendship with Buzz and Rhonda. His many kindnesses and acts of friendship will be remembered forever . We thought we would have him back soon . His death is such a shock. We cannot stop grieving it seems. Our love to Rhonda and all of his family.

I remain active in the Sigma Chi fraternity
chapter at Ohio University. I was President of the chapter when in 1969 situations caused me to consult with Buzz and his professionalism so impressed me that I attended law school upon graduating from Ohio University. Less than seven months ago I again relied on the counsel and guidance provided by Buzz to resolve a legal issue. Thousands of young men have benefited from the guiding hand of Buzz.

As a classmate and friend of Buzz through the speedbumps and successes of life I wish to pass my sincere respects to the Rhonda and the family of Buzz Ball. The legal profession and people chose him to represent them in their life's struggles. What a journey for a young man from a rural upbringing in Athens County.
We miss you and your accessibility, opinions and leadership. Many stories yet to be remembered as we reflect on our relationships with teachers, mentors and friends. God Bless

A familiar name and face to anyone who has spent any amount of time in Athens. Such a classy guy, and always called me "dear," when we had any kind of exchange. Very sad news. His presence will be missed. Condolences to the family.

Buzz gave me my first formal opportunity in politics as a volunteer intern which led to a job with Congressman Miller. I am grateful. He loaned me his car to drive to the interview. My condolences to the family.

Very sad to hear of Buzz's passing. He stopped into the prosecutor's office almost every day with a smile and a story to tell. To Rhonda and D.J., Cheryl and I send our deepest sympathies. The Athens Courthouse won't be the same without him. Dave Warren, retired Athens County Prosecutor

I fondly recall Buzz helping the Athens, Vinton and Hocking Mental Health Board during my tenure there as Executive Director. Buzz, at that time, was the elected State Representative for the area, made it possible for the Board to acquire land formerly a part of the Athens Mental Health Center so the Board could firmly establish a permanent home office and construct and open a new Mental Health Group Home for children. Thanks, Buzz and rest in peace!

What an extraordinary life and commitment civic engagement! I have such vivid memories of Buzz, the larger than life dad of my dear friend Brad. He was always so kind, warm, and gracious to me. He had a magnetic personality, so full of charisma. When I think about it, he was one of the first people to expose me to the fascinating political world. My husband Jeff also enjoyed hearing Buzz's interesting tales and nuanced perspectives. Brad embodies so many of his dad's best traits -- he embraces life, thrives on making connections with others, and is a devoted father. It was beautiful to see just how much Buzz loved and cared for Brad and his entire family. Our deepest sympathies to the family on the loss of their beloved patriarch.
