Allene Bowman

Allene Bowman Resident of Santa Rosa Allene Bowman, born June 26, 1921 to a hard scrapple life as one of 14 children on a farm in Belpre, Kansas. She survived the "Dust Bowl"and the"Great Depression". She came to California during World War II after marrying her sweetheart from Kansas, Claude Bowman, who was serving in the U.S. Navy in 1942. After the war Claude & Allene settled in Richmond, CA where they raised their family. Allene worked full time as a Medical Office Manager while maintaining the household and raising two daughters in the '50's & '60's. In her "spare time" she canned the produce that Claude raised in their garden. Her berry pies made from the berries Claude grew were the besther baking unsurpassed. She raised her family with ironed sheets, starched pillow cases and a home that was impeccably maintained. After their retirement they settled in Santa Rosa in 1975. Allene was fiercely independent and maintained her home and garden in Santa Rosa well into her 80's. Allene's friends, neighbors and family were of great importance to her and she touched many lives with her kindness and consideration. Allene is survived by her daughters Claudia Bowman, her granddaughter, Lily Bowman of Oakland & Sandi Bowman of Santa Rosa. She was of the "Greatest Generation". She will be missed and she will be remembered. Allene passed away on June 22, 2011 just four days before her 90th birthday.
