THOMAS D. OAKLEY, JR., of Pleasanton, CA, died on September 2, 2001. He was 64. The Arkansas native had lived in California for 41 years and Pleasanton for 5 years. He was a graduate of the University of Arkansas (class of 1958) and Golden Gate University School of Law, San Francisco, CA, (class of 1971). He was the Southwest Conference 2 mile champion in 1957, a member of 1960 Olympic team in 1960 (3,000 meter steeplechase), and a member of 3 Southwest Conference championship cross county teams. He was inducted into the State of Arkansas Track & Field Hall of Fame in 2000. He was an attorney and a real estate broker. He is survived by his brother Charles F. Oakley of Pleasanton, CA. Amemorial service will be held at Pleasanton Presbyterian Church, on September 15, 2001 at 10:00 am. Memorial gifts may be made to the American Heart Association.
