Vera Dho Obituary

Vera Marie Dho
March 9, 1917 - April 8, 2016
Pleasanton/Dublin
Vera Marie Dho (née del Gaudio) died peacefully on April 8, 2016 in Dublin, CA at the age of 99. Vera is survived by her son, John Dho, and daughter-in-law, Betty Hemenway, and her nephews, Steven and Jackson Cates and families. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 27 years, Victor, and her son, Robert.
Vera was a remarkable and loving wife, mother, aunt and grandmother who survived and, indeed, thrived after her husband's passing in 1977, although many of their dreams remained unfulfilled. She lived independently and volunteered at Ridgeview Commons in Pleasanton until an illness required her transition to assisted living.
The family sends a heartfelt "thank you" to Emerald Care Home's owners, John and Carmen Nica, for their compassionate care and to the Vitas Hospice team members who made Vera comfortable and helped the family cope with a 400 mile separation.
A memorial service will be held on May 20, 2016 from 12:00PM to 2:00PM at Holy Angeles Funeral Center, 1051 Harder Road, Hayward, CA, with committal services to follow at the adjacent Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a contribution in her name to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society or the Alzheimer's Foundation of America.
