Ina Florence (Salzman) Kurland, 77, of El Paso passed away peacefully on March 27, 2015. Ina was born in New York City on November 28, 1938 to Sylvia 'Bobbe' and Larry Salzman. She and her brother, Michael Mark moved from Baltimore, MD to El Paso, Texas in 1948 where she and Michael attended Mesita Elementary. Ina was local President of Bnai Brith Girls, & elected Regional President when attending El Paso High School. She was also a Tigerette, and graduated in just 3 years in June 1954. Ina went on to attend Texas Western College (UTEP), majoring in Speech & Drama, and earned her Bachelor of Education degree in June 1957. She married the love of her life, Irwin, a week after her college graduation. They would have been married 58 years in June. She and Irwin founded Kurland Salzman Music Co in 1957, and worked side by side for 47 years. Ina was a gifted teacher, loving wife, devoted mother & amazing grandma. She touched the lives of everyone she met. Ina was a gracious, charitable, respectful and respectable lady, a wonderful businesswoman, & creative artist who enjoyed making stained glass and 3D art. She loved playing the game of Mahjong, and was an avid reader. She was a valued and caring friend who had time to listen. She was a tremendous cook and baker and made the holidays especially meaningful. Her love of music, arts and theater gave her great joy, as did the accomplishments of her children and granddaughter. Ina valued education and Judaism, had a strong work ethic, and celebrated life and family traditions. She is survived by her loving husband, Irwin, her beloved children Beth Sheba, Debra Rose and Maurice Joseph, and her adored granddaughter, Shayna Breanne Ina was a lifelong member of B'nai Zion, Hadassah and Sisterhood. In celebration and in honor of her life, donations can be made to Congregation B'nai Zion of El Paso. Services will be held Tuesday, March 31st at 11:30 a.m. at B'nai Zion, 805 Cherry Hill Lane, 79912. Graveside services will follow. ~May our beautiful, beloved Ina's memory, Forever be a Blessing.

Beth and family. Our hearts ache for the loss of your mother, wife and grandma Ina. We will miss her very much. We were very honored to know her and love her. I (Rose) remember and never will forget going to her wedding and Ina coming to my wedding and being with her in Shul activities.
I (Debby), was surprised to learn that Ina wrote the Camp Shamayim song that I used to sing when I attended Camp Shamayim. Beth, you sang it so beautifully during the service. I caught myself singing it with you. I have always liked that song.

Many wonderful things will be said about Ina Kurland. Her death, at 77, indicates that she achieved the predicted life span of three score and ten with something to spare. Her legacy, however, will be in CORE VALUES AND IDEALS, not in words. Her life, and the way she lived it, enhanced JUDAISM, and MANKIND in general.
