John Jakul Obituary
John, a carpenter, was born Feb. 14, 1925, in St. Louis, the son of John W. Jakul and wife Delia, nee Mullane. He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, as well as Carpenters Union Local 3202 for 65 years. John served in the U.S. Navy in World War II. He enjoyed building many churches and bridges in the country. John enjoyed fishing and bird-watching but most of all, playing with all his grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
John is survived by his wife of 66 years, Shirley Jakul, nee Taschler, Warrenton; two daughters, Linda (Gerard) Carroll, Charlotte, N.C., and Michelle Whitaker, Warrenton; four sons, John F. (Leslie) Jakul, Creve Coeur, Mark (Sara) Jakul, Warrenton, Mike Jakul, St. Louis, and Dan Jakul, Warrenton; many brothers and sisters; 14 grandchildren and even more great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, John W. Jakul; mother, Delia Jakul; and grandson, Logan Shay.
Visitation was held Tuesday, April 11, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Pitman Funeral Home, Warrenton.
A funeral service was held Wednesday, April 12, at 11 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Warrenton.
Interment followed in the church cemetery.
Memorials to Masses, in care of Pitman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 126, Warrenton, Mo 63383 are preferred.
The family was served by Pitman Funeral Home, Warrenton.
