Gregory Galdon Obituary

Gregory J. Galdon, age 67, of Millcreek passed away on Sunday, April 11, 2021 at home. He was born on December 15, 1953 in Bayonne, New Jersey, a son of Josephine (Wilk) Galdon and the late George J. Galdon, Jr.

Greg was a graduate of Bishop Neumann High School in Buffalo and went on to study at Niagara University. He worked in the hospitality industry, retiring as Executive Regional Director at IHG, where he worked for over 20 years. Most recently, he and his son partnered to purchase multiple Subway restaurants. Greg was a member of Our Lady of Peace Church and was the Vice-President of the Pastoral Council. He was a past volunteer with the West Ridge Fire Department.

Greg passionately loved his family, his many golden labs and doodles, and Buffalo Bills. He also enjoyed watching Penn State Nittany Lions and Buffalo Sabres. In his spare time, his hobbies included cooking, camping with family and friends, and playing euchre. His children and grandchildren remember his hobby of photography; Greg would always have a camera in hand, and he loved to develop pictures at home. He loved making people laugh, especially his wife, and he would dance with her in the living room after dinner. One of his proud accomplishments was carrying the Olympic Torch in Frontier Park, Erie in 1996. He was intelligent; he would be able to apply his math and computer skills while helping with homework or business. He left memories everywhere he went: DJing in college, mountain climbing in Arizona, go-cart driving, and yearly vacationing in St. Maarten.

He was preceded in death by his father, George J. Galdon, Jr.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Carol (Beckett) Galdon; his mother, Josephine (Wilk) Galdon of Buffalo; children, Chris Galdon, wife Jennifer of Erie, Jackie Krukowski of Erie; grandchildren, Mackenzie and Kenley Galdon and Casey Krukowski. Greg is further survived by siblings, John Galdon, wife Fran of Buffalo, N.Y., Sue Balsom of Mentor, Ohio, and Kevin Galdon, wife Diana of Buffalo, N.Y. and many nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to call on Thursday from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1595 West 38th St., at Greengarden Blvd. Prayers will be held there on Friday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at Our Lady of Peace Church at 10 a.m. Entombment will follow in Calvary Mausoleum.

Memorials may be made to Give the Kids the World Village at gktw.org, ANNA Shelter, 1555 East 10th Street, Erie, PA 16511 or Our Lady of Peace Church, 2401 West 38th Street, Erie, PA 16506.

Sad to hear about Greg's passing. I worked with him at IHG in the 2005-2010 timeframe. Always enjoyed our interactions - mostly computer software related stuff - he was a really good tester! RIP Greg.

Dear Galdon Family,
We are so very sorry to hear about this terrible loss. I remember Greg well from our childhood years in the neighborhood. As some almost 10 years older, we couldn't help but look up to Greg in so many ways. He was smart and understanding of all those things that were still a mystery to us, he would allow us to listen in to the conversations of "the big kids", and he was the first to get his license and was always around to help out with all of our needs. He was a model of hard work, starting early and quickly moving up at the restaurants wherever he worked. As someone who never made it beyond busboy, I considered Greg as a great example of someone who knew how to succeed. He was quick with jokes and comebacks, and it could be a little intimidating if you were as young as we were. In all, he was a leader in our neighborhood family, and it is clear that his leadership continued throughout his life. I can only imagine how much you all miss him. Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you all - With our love, The Crovellas
