Tyler Teague Obituary
Funeral services for Tyler will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church with Pastor Joe Colaw of the First Wesleyan Church officiating. Interment will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory.
Casket escorts will include Michael Teague, Brandon Dutcher, Mike Dutcher, Steve Armstrong, Charles Colaw, John Hughes, Paul Hughes, Dale Gentry and Barry Gentry.
Friends who wish may call for visitation at the Stumpff Funeral Home on Sunday from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m.
A memorial fund has been established and those who wish may send their contributions to the Tyler James Teague Memorial Fund, c/o Arvest Bank, P.O. Box 999, Bartlesville, Oklahoma, 74005.
Tyler James Teague was born at Fayetteville, Arkansas on September 2, 1992, the son of Christy Louise (Dutcher) and Robert Dale Teague. He spent his early youth in Rogers, Arkansas where he attended school through the fifth grade. He came to Bartlesville in 2004 and attended Central Junior High, Bartlesville Mid High and was currently a Junior at Bartlesville High School where he was a pitcher on the high school baseball team. Tyler was also active in K-Life, was an avid hunter and fisherman, collected ball caps and Nike shoes, and enjoyed playing ping pong, golf and tennis. He loved to laugh and being with friends and he never met a stranger. He was a member of Victory Church and had been saved and baptized at the Immanuel Baptist Church in Rogers, Arkansas. He was currently employed at City Blends Smoothies at the Colaw Fitness Center and had been employed at the Braums on S.E. Washington Blvd.
Tyler is survived by his mother and step father, Christy and Keith McPhail of Bartlesville, his father and step mother, Robert D. and Heather Teague of Lowell, Arkansas, a brother, James Harris Teague of Bartlesville, two sisters, Mary Beth Teague and Grace Olivia McPhail, both of Bartlesville, five step brothers and sisters, Blake McPhail, Madison McPhail and Parker McPhail all of Bartlesville, and Courtney Myers and Colton Myers of Lowell, Arkansas, his maternal grandparents, Del and Dona Dutcher of Bartlesville, his paternal grandparents, Bill and Gwin Hughes of Benton, Arkansas, his maternal great grandparents, Mrs. Harris Dutcher of Bartlesville and Treva McPhail and Mel Elzea of Tulsa, and his paternal great grandparents, J.R. and Louise Teague of Benton, Arkansas, aunts and uncles, Mike and Dianna Dutcher of Bartlesville, Brandon and Susie Dutcher of Edmond, Okla., Michael and Debbie Teague of Little Rock, Arkansas, John and Nikki Hughes of Jonesboro, Arkansas, Paul and Kandra Hughes of Prairie Grove, Arkansas, and Tara Hughes of Benton, Arkansas, and cousins, Tucker and Abby Teague of Little Rock, Arkansas, Andrew Dutcher of Norman, Okla., Jane and Betsy Dutcher of Bartlesville, Lincoln, Lillie, Mary Margaret and Jack Henry Dutcher all of Edmond, Okla, and Cody and Jake Odden of Bartlesville. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Senator James R. Teague.

Brad, the girls and I want to send our love to you and your families. We will NEVER forget TYLER and your family. We were just smiling about how he LOVED to watch Lion King and how he loved his "towboy boots" and wore them all the time as a little boy. What a JOY he was to all that ever met him.

To Tyler's Family,
We were very sad to hear of Tyler's death. I don't know if you will remember Jason Cloe from the Redbird's baseball team but Tyler was so good with all of the little sisters on the team. He was very sweet with our daughter Kelsie and that was nice to see in a young man. I have a picture of Tyler with Kelsie in a pool at a team party if you would like it. It is during these times when those outside your family feel helpless. Not knowing Tyler personally doesn't mean I will not pray for you all. On Friday night a call to action came my way and I knew it was something I had to do. Today, I sat in for a couple of teachers at the Mid-High who wanted to attend the funeral. My heart goes out to you as well as our prayers. We lost one of our sons, Michael David "Mike" Oliphant, in a car accident who was only 18 years old in 2002. I promise you that God will see you through, but it will take time. I know from experience that there are not any words that will help right now, but we will hold you up in prayer which will provide you comfort. We, too, have a 17 year old son who is a senior at BHS, Kyle Ebert, and knew Tyler. He is quite upset over Tyler's accident, and is praying for you as well. Please know that time will heal the hurt you feel and that he is in a better place today.
I would like to share with you a poem that I wrote in hopes that it will help you to deal with your pain:
LEARNING TO “LIVE WITH IT”
There are some things I’ve learned since I lost my son.
There are things in this world worth running from.
Pain and anger, and unforgiving are a few
Of the things I have been going through.
They will drive you to places you don’t understand
And leave you with nothing left in your hand.
So recognize them when they take over your life
And run from the pain, the anger, and strife.
Run to the lord and leave them with Him
And run for your life every time they come in.
He’ll teach you to learn to live with the pain.
The anger will leave you when you run to Him.
I carried a koozie that goes on a can
That read, ”Get Over It”, until I lost that man.
Who was my son, in that terrible crash.
And never again could I carry that trash.
“Get Over It?” I thought, there is no way
I will ever “get over” that fateful day!
Almost two years later: “Get Over It? - NO!
But learning to live with the pain in my soul.
That’s what I have learned in the last 23 months.
I’ve learned how to live with the death of my son.
The Lord has taught me to live with the pain and the hole
That was left in my life, in my heart and in my soul.
Learn how to live with that kind of pain?
How in the world? When does that happen?
It’s not in this world and it doesn’t just happen.
It’s a decision you make each time your thinkin’.
Every time that you’re thinking about what you lost.
Every time that you’re thinking about how his life stopped.
Every time that you’re thinking about how he felt.
Every time that you’re thinking about his seat belt.
Every time that you’re thinking about the “gift”.
Every time that you’re thinking about “what if?”
Every time that you’re thinking about “why?”
Every time that you’re thinking, “If only I had
Said or done something different that day;
Maybe he’d still be here.” – Here’s what I will say:
“What about when he was little and ….?”
“Remember the time that he took my hand?”
“How about the smile left on his face
“When he showed me the plate of cookies he made?”
“Remember when he asked to go to the lake?”
“Remember the fish that he caught on that day?”
It’s a conscious decision from here on in,
To think of the good times we had with him.
Or think of his last minutes on earth?

I worked with Tyler as one of his managers at Braum's. I only knew him for a short period of time but he was a wonderful and very polite young man.
