James Dunning Covert II

DOVER - James Dunning Covert II, of Dover, N.H., passed away peacefully in his sleep on Monday, October 3, 2016, at the age of 91. Born April 18, 1925, in Montclair, N.J., he was the son of James and Harriet (Pearson) Covert.

Jim joined the US Navy in 1943 as a Signalman Third Class V6 USNR and served until 1946. He received a BA in Business from Ryder College. His career led him into the world of sales. Pfizer Pharmaceuticals, Davidson Rubber to owning his own employment agency with Rita Personnel and Coast Transportation at UNH.

Jim raised his five children in Exeter, N.H., and later retired to Dover. His appreciation for life was an inspiration for all who knew him. His simple nature made everyone around him at ease. He had an enormous love of nature and was blessed to spend over 80 years at his summer home in Weld, Maine. His wife Audrey taught him how to paint at age 65 and the two spent their time outdoors creating beautiful scenic art work.

Jim is survived by his loving wife, Audrey Covert of Dover; five children, James Covert III, and his wife Nancy of Fitchburg, Mass., Caryn Covert Treister of Fla., Brad Covert and his wife Deb of R.I., Zoë Covert Lathrop of Dover and Bill Covert and his wife Paige of Dover; three step children, David Bottom and his wife Donna of Maine, Doug Bottom and his wife Nancy of Keene, N.H., and Beth Paquette and her husband David of Rochester; a brother, Edward Covert and his wife Eileen of Maryland; a sister Jean Smith of Peabody, Mass.; and numerous grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews.

SERVICES: A Celebration of Life Service will be held at St. Josephs Church, 150 Central Ave., in Dover, N.H., on Saturday, October 22, 2016, at 11 a.m.
