Carol Bean Obituary

Carol Allred Bean, 83, of Walkersville, MD, returned home to her Heavenly Father on

Thursday, November 8, 2018. She was born September 27, 1935 in Provo, UT to Theras Orson

and Florence Rheuamah (Porter) Allred, the youngest of 13 children. She graduated from

Brigham Young University with a degree in education. A lifelong member of The Church of Jesus

Christ of Latter-day Saints, she left Provo in 1958 to serve as a full-time missionary in the South

Australia Mission. While there she met another missionary who would become very important

to her, Vern Ellis Bean. After they both returned home, they dated and became engaged. They

were sealed for time and all eternity in the Manti Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of

Latter-day Saints on June 6, 1961.

Carol raised four children, traveled the world with her husband, and lived her faith, serving as

Relief Society President, Primary President, and counselor in the Young Women's Presidency.

She faithfully supported her husband as he served as a counselor and then a bishop for a total

of 15 years. She was a respected and talented musician, teaching music at the Maryland

School for the Deaf, and playing both organ and piano at church. She enjoyed volunteering in

the TOPS Club, Frederick chapter. She taught her children by her own example that true joy is

found in service.

Carol is survived by her husband, Vern, of the home, and her sisters Elaine Hawkins of Mission

Viejo, CA and Joye Cluff (Rulon) of Provo, UT. She is also survived by her four children, Gregory

Bean (Donita) of Corning, NY, Scot Bean (Lisa) of Loveland, CO, Charis Duke (David) of

Philadelphia, PA, and Laura, of the home, nine grandchildren, Emily Crandell (Adam), Jared

Bean, Trevor Bean (Rachelle), Joshua Bean (MacKenzie), Sarah Knechtel (Wyatt), Spencer Bean,

Catherine Streeter (Andrew), Benjamin Duke, and Sylvia Duke, and two great-grandchildren,

Milo and Jack Streeter.

The funeral will be held Saturday, November 17, 2018 at 10:00 am with a viewing at 9 am at The

Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1811 Latham Drive, Frederick, MD. Interment will be

at Mount Olivet Cemetery immediately following. Flowers welcome at Keeney & Basford P.A.

Funeral Home.

Carol was one of the sweetest people I have ever known. Its a tribute to her that over the 25 years we have known her and Vern there has never been a time that I can recall her ever saying anything critical of anyone she knew. To be guilless in todays world is hard. We will miss her tender spirit greatly, but we are firm in the knowledge that she is busily working on the other side and that the Lord is her walking companion. Our prayers and thoughts are with Vern and the family. We miss and love you guys.

I loved playing with Carol when I was a little girl. She was so kind and thoughtful to me. As we grew up, we started a performing group and sang for many occasions. I always admired the way she played the piano and endeavored to follow in her footsteps. I will miss her but think she is likely creating heavenly music in the spirit world.

Your neighbor..
