Gregory Butler Obituary

Gregory Neal Butler, 58, of Hokes Bluff, passed away Thursday, March 19, 2015.
The funeral service will be at 2 p.m., Tuesday at Collier- Butler Funeral Home. Rev. Danny Kidd will officiate. The burial will be in Crestwood Cemetery. Visitation will begin two hours prior to the service.
Gregory was born March 18, 1957, in Gadsden. He had been a resident of Hokes Bluff for the last 28 years, and he was a lifelong member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. Gregory graduated from Emma Sansom High School in 1975 then later graduated from Jacksonville State University, Magna Cum Laude, with a degree in special education. He taught school in Rome, Ga., for several years.
Mr. Butler was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Butler.
Survivors include his mother, Betty Butler; sister, Deborah Honeycutt Callaham; nephew, Thomas Lowell Honeycutt; and many other friends and family members.
Pallbearers will be Thomas Honeycutt, Ron Campbell, Jeff Davis, Steve Davis, Mike Gowens and Anthony Phillips.
The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Timothy Murray, The Cancer Center at St. Vincent's Hospital in Birmingham, and to Becky Davis for all of her help and support.
