BRUMBAUGH, CLIFFORD L.

Clifford L. Brumbaugh, age 82 of Gainesville, FL passed away at his home on Wednesday January 6, 2010. He was born in Louisville, KY on March 13, 1927. After moving to Owensboro, KY., he graduated from the Owensboro High School, and then enlisted in the Merchant Marines and was sent to Radio Training School at Hoffman Island. He became an Ensign and was ship's radio officer, serving in the Philippine area during WWII, and was awarded the Philippines Liberation ribbon and the Pacific theatre ribbon. After the war he enrolled at the University of Kentucky where he was a member of the Kappa Sigma fraternity, and received a Bachelors of Science degree in just three years. He then went to work for General Electric in Owensboro for twenty-five years. He moved to Gainesville and worked at the Battery Business Dept. of General Electric for 12 years. He was a Kentucky Colonel and member of the Gainesville Golf and Country Club and enjoyed playing golf.

He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Yolande Coulter Brumbaugh, daughters Ruth Brumbaugh of Gainesville, Sara Brumbaugh Henneberger of California, his son Wade Brumbaugh of Gainesville, and his sister Dorothy Brumbaugh of Owensboro.

There will be a Celebration of His Life at 3:00 PM on Sunday January 10, 2010 at the Club House of the Gainesville Golf and Country Club.
