Joyce Hobart Obituary
Our mother, Joyce Beverly Miller Hobart joined her beloved husband of 62 years, John Hobart, in the heavenly realms on August 2, 2021.
Although heartbroken by her departure, her devoted daughters and sons-in-law Marie Kasprow, Susan & Steve Lee, Beverly & Allen Rejonis and Laura & David Overfield rejoice that their parents are together again, dancing in each other's arms.
Mom was born March 5, 1933 in Aliquippa, Pennsylvania during the depression. She attended Presbyterian Hospital where she obtained her diploma degree in nursing. Mom loved being a nurse.
She and dad met in Cleveland, Ohio. It was love at first sight and they were married soon thereafter. They eventually settled in the Columbus area where they raised their family. She took great delight in teaching her daughters how to sew, cook, decorate cakes, and learn proper etiquette on Saturday mornings.
Dad's job moved them to Naples, Florida where they finished their careers and finally relocated to the Gainesville area after retirement. She loved traveling the country with dad.
Mom was an awesome homemaker, gardener and game player. She loved playing bingo with her grandchildren who always looked forward to going to the treasure chest when they won. She thoroughly enjoyed her flower gardens and the joy they brought others. Her biggest delight was her 13 grandchildren: Chris, Jon, Rachael, Joy, Alex, Sarah, Libby, Hannah, Noah, Abbey, Aaron, Amy & Ethan and her great grandchildren. Mom is survived by one sister, Brenda Miller in Jacksonville, FL. and many other close family members in Ohio.
Mom was very grateful for the life she had, a life that more than exceeded what she could ever have imagined. She loved the Lord and her faith sustained her during the five years she was without her husband until they reunited in heaven.
Our family is grateful for the kindness and support she received from the Haven Hospice team and Pastor Melissa at Celebration United Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers, we respectfully request donations to be made to Celebration United Methodist Church at 9501 SW Archer Road, Gainesville, FL 32608 or Haven Hospice of North Central Florida, Inc. located at 4200 NW 90th BLVD, Gainesville, FL 32606.
A memorial service for family and friends will be held August 28th at 1pm at Celebration United Methodist Church.
