CHERYL HANKERSON Obituary
Gainesville - Age 57, Substitute Teacher for Duval County Schools and Sales Associate/ Dillard's Department Store, Member of Hope Chapel Ministries, Inc., 1973 Graduate of Gainesville High School & 1980 Graduate of Jones College (Jacksonville, FL), answered her Savior's call on Thursday, July 11, 2013, in Gainesville, Florida at the residence of her Mother.
Homegoing Services will be held at 12:00PM Friday, July 19, 2013, at Hope Chapel Ministries, Inc. (9850 Wagner Road, Jacksonville, FL) with her Pastor, Dr. Jeannette C. Holmes-Vann, delivering the Eulogy. Ms. Hankerson will be viewed at the Funeral Home (in Gainesville, FL) on Thursday (2:00-7:00PM) - At the Church (on Friday) 10:00-12:00PM - And with the Processional. The Procession will form at the residence of her Mother, 909 NE 25th Street, Gainesville, at 9:15AM.
The Burial will follow 10:30AM Saturday, July 20, 2013, at Forest Meadows Memorial Park-East (Gainesville, FL) with Dr. Marie J. Herring officiating.
Those left to cherish Ms. Hankerson's memory are: daughter - Jodi Staten of Jacksonville, FL; mother - Irene Gainey-Porter of Gainesville, FL; (step father - Rudolph Porter preceded her in death); Father - Artha Hankerson of Bethlehem, PA; grandson - Jayven Suggs of Jacksonville, FL; brothers - Sidney Porter, Sr. (& Kelly) of Gainesville, Wayne Porter, Sr. (& Tonnetta) of Alachua, FL, Charles Hankerson (& Susie Dring) of Orlando, FL, Mitchel Porter of Cocoa Beach, FL, Rudolph Porter, Jr. (& Barbara) of Gainesville, FL; sisters - Leila Banks of Gainesville, FL and Wanda Cobb (& Harry) of Cocoa Beach, FL; and a host of aunts & uncles; nieces & nephews; cousins; & friends.
Arrangements Entrusted To: DUNCAN BROTHERS' FUNERAL HOME, 428 NW 8TH Street, Gainesville, FL.

Cheryl was light to everyone she came in contact with. Even during her illness she was smiling and optimistic. I enjoyed the many visits during this time difficult time, discussing our faith, politics, the trial and her concern for the well being our family. Cheryl and I have been friends for many years and I am sadden of her passing. There were times during our busiest periods which we didn't get to spend time with each other; however, when we did connect, it was like we were never apart. I will forever treasure our friendship and I hope your treasured memories will be comforting to you as well. I love and will certainly miss my friend, Cheryl!!
