Dear Mrs. Braselton,
I only had the pleasure of meeting your dear husband, and Susan's father, Henry, once. But that is an occasion that I remember well. We dined together, and I felt so often during that evening, the warmth of your love for one another, and the strength and bond of your family.
I felt blessed to be a part of that evening; the sense of caring and devotion was so strong. My thoughts and prayers have been with you and with your family. Please accept my heart felt condolences.

Janice,
I just heard about Henry's death TODAY! No one told me, and I am so saddened that I did not know. I cannot imagine how difficult it must be for you. I know how close you two were. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you during this important time in your life. How many years we have shared/not shared with each other and the events of our lives! Although we do not stay in touch that much, you are always in my mind and in my thoughts, as sure as the sun comes up in the mornings - bonded forever. How important a role you have played in my life from its very beginning! If anyone is a surviver, you are! Please know that I am thinking of you and will be in touch. Janet

I remember first meeting Mr Braselton late one night as our trucks pulled into a very sleepy town. I was probably 6 or 7 - my father told me that we were going to take the rides to a town in North GA that belonged to Mr. Braselton. I was in total awe - Here we were a family that could barely make ends meet, meeting a man that owned the whole town! I was scared to death - didn't know what kind of person Mr. Braselton would be. I remember riding into town with my mother driving - we pulled into the parking lot and it wasn't but just a few minutes later I saw this friendly, smiling, handshaking man - it was Mr. Braselton! I fell in love with the city, townspeople, and family! Everyone was so real and down to earth - We celebrated Thanksgiving that year in a way that I will never forget - It was the Thanksgiving Anniversary Sale! It was also the start of McNair Amusements - Thank-you Mr. Braselton. I will forever miss you!
With much love and respect for the entire Braselton family.

Janice, I am so sorry to hear about Henry's death. I have known Henry all of my life and have always admired his wonderful character and sense of values. There are entirely too many to mention here but I will forever remember that Henry always had a smile that would brighten your day no matter what. He was a dear friend of my entire family and we all had a great appreciation for the many contributions and much support that Henry and his family gave to the entire Community. May God's love provide support to you and your family during this very sad occasion.

I met Henry in the summer of 1976 when I first visited Braselton. The following year, I married one of his cousins, Nancy Braselton. I valued his
friendship over more than 30 years and
especially appreciate that he and his wife Janice attended our wedding in 1977 in Washington, D.C., and attended our son, Leo Braselton Gorman's wedding in May of this year in Michigan. On that occasion, I took Henry to visit my alma mater, the University of Notre Dame, a place he had wanted to visit ever since his older brother, John Oliver Braselton, Jr., had trained there to become a Naval officer during World War II. Henry was a very special person.

My family and I were privileged to have met and gotten to know Mr. Henry. He always had a smile on his face and always made you feel welcome. He was one of the finest gentleman I've ever known. My father, Bob Murphy, grew up in Hoschton, and he spoke often of playing with Henry when they were young boys. He was always proud of what the Braseltons had done for that area of the state and that community. The entire Braselton family will be in our thoughts and prayers.

My family knew and loved Henry all our lives. He was a genuine gentleman of the first order and did so much for his community as a public offcial and as a private citizen. Henry was a family man who dearly loved his wife Janice and their three lovely daughters. We went to school together at Braselton High School and worshiped together at Zion Baptist Church. After Graduation in 1951 I moved to Northern Virginia and entered public life in 1968 and served for 30 years in the Senate of Virginia. Henry was proud of my success and I was equally proud of his many years of service on the town council and as Mayor. We kept in touch and our school has held an annual reunion for many years now and Henry was always there to welcome us home. In time we may become accustomed to not having Henry among us but we shall never forget his good and cheerful way of life. Senator Charles L. Waddell (retired) Leesburg, Virginia
