Ruby Auten Obituary

GASTONIA - Ruby Brady Auten, 94, entered eternal life on May 28, 2015, at Caromont Regional Medi-cal Center.

Ruby was born in Gaston County on Feb. 7, 1921, daughter of the late Thomas Preston Brady and Car-rie Cullender Brady, and wife of the late, Harold James Auten.

Ruby was employed by Gastonia Weaving Mill for 19 years, until its closing in 1969. She retired from Homelite/Textron in 1986.
She was a member of Armstrong Memorial Presbyterian Church for 60 years, until its closing.
Ruby is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Linda Auten; daughter and son-in-law, Su-san and Ralph Long; grandson and wife, Deron and Katie Auten; granddaughter and husband, Gwendo-lyn and Joshua Graham; great-grandchildren Savannah and Hunter Whisnant.

Ruby was preceded in death by her loving husband of 53 years, Harold James Auten, parents, broth-ers: Lawrence Brady, Charles Brady, Harry Brady, Carl Brady, George Brady, and Hall Brady, twin sister, Ruth Brady, and sisters: Betty Bruni, Mary Shehane, Annie Bell Waters, and Grace Brady.

"I am home in heaven now, Oh, so happy and so bright, all the pain is over, in His everlasting light. When your work is all completed, He will gently call you home. Oh, the rapture of that meeting, Oh, the joy to see you come!"

A celebration of life service will be held 3 p.m. Monday at Carothers Funeral Home at Gaston Memori-al Park, South New Hope Road in Gastonia. Interment will be at Gaston Memorial Park. Officiating will be Dr. Robert Winecoff and the Revs. Janet Henson and Tim Parker.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 3 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Ralph Long, Deron Auten, Johnny Autry, Mark Buchanan, Dale Waters, and Charles Brady.

In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate memorials to: Central Church of God at Union Road (to honor the memory of Carrie Brady), Linwood Church of God (to honor the memory of Katie Auten), and East Baptist Church (to honor the memory of Faye Bell).

Ruby was a friend when we worked together at homelite.She gave me recipes that I use often to this day. A very nice and sweet woman. I have thought of her often and wondered about her.
