Evelyn Laprade Obituary
EASTHAMPTON - Evelyn (Lamothe) Laprade, 86, formerly of East Street, passed away on June 2, 2014 at Holyoke Health Care Center.
She wasd born in Southampton and is the daughter of the late Isadore and Mille (Bushey) Lamothe.
Evelyn had retired as a nurse's aid from the former Northampton State Hospital.
She leaves her husband of 68 years, Wilfred A. Laprade, six sons, David Laprade and wife Marcia of Bernardston, Mark Laprade of Holyoke, Gerald Laprade and wife Christine and Wilfred A. Laprade Jr. and wife Lynn both of Southampton, Andrew Laprade and wife Julie of Enfield, CT, Christopher Laprade of Martinez, CA and her daughter Janine Speight and husband Neal of Matthews, NC, a son-in-law Paul McGrath of Belchertown, a sister Elaine Labatto of Easthampton, 16 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents she is predeceased by her daughter Anne McGrath, her sisters Barbara Fennesey, Ester Wellman and her brother Robert Lamothe.
Her funeral will be on Friday, June 20, 2014 at 9, a.m.from the Boucher-O'Brien Funeral Home, 7 Pleasant St., Easthampton, followed with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of The Valley Church, 33 Adams St., Easthampton. Burial will be in St. Brigids Cemetery. Calling hours are Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. Donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

To the Laprade family,
Sorry to hear of the death of Mrs. Laprade. She was friends with my mother when I was a young child. I also worked with her at the Northampton State Hospital. She was a fine lady and admired by everyone. Her kindness couldn't be beat by anyone. She was a kindhearted lady and I have fond memories of her. If you knew her you have to know that she is already in heaven.

Evie was one of my mother's best friends and both had huge families, Evie's was mostly boys and mom's was mostly girls. I have a lot of memories of visiting with Evie. I still have a blanket she made me when I was a little girl. So sorry, Carol Will

Mr. Laprade and family,
My wife & I are so very sorry to hear of Evelyn's passing. We had the distinct pleasure of working with Evelyn at the Northampton State Hospital back in the '80's on the Geriatric unit. You wouldn't find a more compassionate individual than Evelyn . She gave her heart and soul as a mental health worker. The patients respected her because they knew when she took care of them she gave 110%. Evelyn and myself were almost birthday twins, me the 15th , her the 16th of March... She always spoke highly of her family. She was surely a caring person. May God rest her soul..
